Imagine a world where your morning coffee is brewed by a robot and your health is monitored by an AI. That world is here and daily AI influence can already be seen. AI (artificial intelligence) has been a hot topic in recent years, and its influence is now becoming increasingly evident in our daily lives. From education and healthcare to entertainment and customer service, AI is changing our lives in the way we live and work. Here are some examples of how AI is making a significant impact:

Daily AI in Environmental Impact
- Climate Modeling: AI models climate change scenarios and helps in developing mitigation strategies.
- Wildlife Conservation: AI monitors wildlife populations and detects illegal poaching activities.
AI is not going anywhere, and that is why I decided to integrate it into my daily life as early as possible. Before I go into how AI impacts my daily life, it might be good to explain what AI is. I asked Copilot and ChatGPT how they would explain AI to a child and an adult, and here is what they responded:
Copilot
- For kids: “AI is like a super-smart robot brain that can learn and do things like a human. It helps us with tasks like talking to our phones, playing games, and even helping doctors.”
- For adults: “AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. This includes things like learning from data, recognizing speech, making decisions, and solving problems.”
ChatGPT
- For kids: “AI, or artificial intelligence, is like a really smart robot brain that helps computers and machines solve problems or do tasks. It’s like when you tell your toy car to drive, but the toy car can figure out which way to go by itself.”
- For adults: “AI, or artificial intelligence, is a branch of computer science focused on creating machines or systems that can perform tasks requiring human-like intelligence. This includes things like learning from data, recognizing patterns, making decisions, and even understanding language. It involves techniques like machine learning and deep learning to improve over time without needing explicit instructions for every task.”

The EU’s Proactive Approach to AI Regulation
In the EU, there was concern about the safety and ethical standards of AI when Copilot and ChatGPT became available to the public. Recognizing the need for regulation, the EU created the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), which came into force on August 1, 2024. This Act ensures safety and ethical standards while also fostering innovation and competitiveness in the AI sector within the EU. I believe it’s very healthy to discuss the ethical use and safety of AI, and I’m glad the EU took a proactive approach to this.
The Daily Frustrations and Realities of AI
Quite often I have come to a dead end when it came to getting responses from AI. It can be frustrating when your AI assistant doesn’t respond to your requests or questions if it deems them inappropriate, even when they’re not. But that is not the only thing that can be frustrating, like mistakes being made by AI. Can AI make mistakes!? The answer is, YES, IT CAN!
My Daily Journey with AI: From Hesitation to Integration
I started using AI about a year and a half ago. Initially, I tested it like a kid tests a new toy to see what works and what doesn’t. Luckily, this is a toy you can’t destroy. Once I started using AI tools, I noticed that it was fun and far better than using search engines to find information. Searching could take hours, and I might still not find what I was looking for. That’s where my daily AI interaction started. With AI, I’ve managed to save hours—no, actually days or weeks—of working hours and spare time by getting help from my personal AI assistants like Copilot and ChatGPT.
Why Copilot Became My Daily Go-To AI Assistant?
I started with ChatGPT and was a bit hesitant at first, wondering if it could help me and how. But as time went by, I noticed it was a big help in my daily life. Now, I use Copilot more than ChatGPT because I found that the answers from Copilot were generally more precise and aligned with what I was looking for.
AI at Work: Enhancing Efficiency and Productivity Daily
In my line of work, I have to go through a lot of legal texts, search for information, and produce plans, so being efficient is key. With AI, I’ve managed to do just that. It’s like having a secretary that’s smarter than yourself. Of course, I don’t blindly rely on the responses AI gives me. They need to be reviewed, and it helps to have critical thinking when reading the responses. AI often provides direct links to the information it refers to, which is good and allows me to check if the information is reliable.
The Benefits of AI in My Daily Life
One thing I’m thankful for is the way I can discuss ideas with AI. It can challenge and improve my ideas, something I seldom have the option to do at work. At work, I use AI daily due to its convenience and the versatile nature of my project work. Check out my first blog post where I told more about my hobbies and my job, here.
In my spare time, I use AI mostly for information searching and ideas on how to handle my finances or save money. I use it in much the same way I used search engines in the past, but now I don’t have to search for information as much. I can get responses more quickly. Maybe someday I’ll use AI to make my travel plans or get suggestions on travel destinations I might enjoy or learn a new skill. AI is full of possibilities.
What do you use AI for? Do you use it in your daily life, and how much? Which is your favorite AI assistant?
The Ease and Fun of Using AI
AI always responds quickly, which is helpful. You don’t even have to write perfect sentences, and it can still be understood. It’s said that you should talk to AI like you talk to a child—the more information you give AI about what you want, the better responses you’ll get. I’ve used that methodology a lot, and it works well. I think it’s never been this much fun to look for information before AI came into my life! Anyone can use an AI assistant like Copilot or ChatGPT because it’s that easy to use. AI is here to stay, so start using it today!
