Holyone B Pyhätunturi Review: A Week Surrounded by Reindeer, Forests, and Endless Summer Days

When planning a summer trip to Finnish Lapland, finding accommodation that combines comfort, location, and easy access to nature can be difficult. During our recent visit to Pyhätunturi, we spent an entire week at Holyone B, giving us plenty of time to experience both the apartment and the surrounding area.

This Holyone B Pyhätunturi review is based on our personal experience during a July stay in one of Finland’s most beautiful outdoor destinations. While many travelers associate Lapland with winter skiing and Northern Lights, summer offers endless daylight, peaceful hiking trails, beautiful scenery, and abundant wildlife.

After a full week at the property, we experienced both its strengths and weaknesses. If you’re considering booking this accommodation, this Holyone B Pyhätunturi review should help you decide whether it’s the right choice for your Lapland adventure.

Excellent Location for Hiking and Outdoor Activities

The biggest advantage of Holyone B is undoubtedly its location.

The apartment sits right next to Pyhä’s ski slopes and hiking areas. While this location is ideal for winter visitors, it is equally attractive during the summer months. Trails are easily accessible and you can start exploring almost immediately after stepping outside.

One of the things we appreciated most was not having to drive to reach nature. The surrounding area offers numerous hiking opportunities, beautiful forest scenery, and easy access to the nearby Pyhä-Luosto National Park.

The views from the apartment were also a highlight of our stay. Looking out across the endless forest landscape provided a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly matched the Lapland experience we were hoping for.

Reindeer Everywhere

One of the most memorable parts of this Holyone B Pyhätunturi review has very little to do with the apartment itself.

It has to do with reindeer.

Throughout our week-long stay, we saw reindeer almost daily. One morning we woke up to find a large group of them hanging around directly outside our entrance.

It was an unforgettable experience.

The reindeer were clearly accustomed to people but still remained wild. While they would not allow us to touch them, they were comfortable enough for us to get surprisingly close and take photos.

For international visitors, seeing reindeer freely roaming around the accommodation area is exactly the kind of Lapland experience many hope to find.

Summer Weather Was Fantastic

Before visiting Lapland during summer, we were unsure what to expect regarding the weather.

Fortunately, the weather exceeded our expectations.

During our entire week at Holyone B, it only rained for a few hours. The rest of the time was sunny and pleasant, making it perfect for spending time outdoors.

The long summer days create a unique atmosphere in Finnish Lapland. Even late in the evening there is still plenty of daylight, allowing visitors to make the most of their time exploring.

However, there is one thing every summer visitor should prepare for.

Bring Mosquito Repellent

The mosquitoes were everywhere.

Anyone planning a summer trip to Pyhätunturi should pack:

  • Mosquito repellent
  • Long-sleeved clothing
  • A mosquito hat or mosquito net

The mosquitoes did not ruin our holiday, but they were definitely part of the experience. Proper preparation will make hiking and outdoor activities much more enjoyable.

Apartment Layout and Space

One thing that surprised us positively was how spacious the apartment felt.

Holyone B is spread across three levels.

The lower floor contains most of the bedrooms, making it easy for larger groups to maintain some privacy.

The middle floor contains the kitchen, dining area, and living room where we spent most of our time when indoors.

The upper loft area, known as a “parvi” in Finnish, provides additional sleeping space.

Although it was just my spouse and me during this trip, the property could comfortably accommodate three couples or multiple families traveling together.

For larger groups, the layout is one of the apartment’s biggest strengths.

Kitchen Facilities and Self-Catering

We cooked most of our meals during the week.

This helped keep costs down significantly compared to eating out every day.

The kitchen is well equipped with:

  • Plenty of dishes
  • Glasses and cups
  • Cutlery
  • Pots and pans
  • Basic kitchen appliances

Unlike some holiday rentals that provide only the bare essentials, Holyone B had more than enough equipment for preparing meals comfortably.

The nearby K-Market was another pleasant surprise.

It is much larger than visitors might expect in a relatively small resort area and offers a great selection of groceries and daily necessities.

For anyone planning a longer stay, having a quality grocery store nearby is a major advantage.

Dining Options Nearby

Although we mostly cooked ourselves, we decided to try one of the nearby restaurants.

Restaurant Popolo

One evening we visited Restaurant Popolo.

The food was excellent.

Everything felt fresh, well prepared, and professionally executed. The quality was genuinely impressive and easily one of the culinary highlights of our trip.

The only downside is the price. It is certainly not the cheapest dining option in the area.

However, if you’re looking for a memorable meal during your stay, it is definitely worth considering.

Some Parts Feel Outdated

While the apartment generally met our expectations, it does show its age in certain areas.

The interior is functional and comfortable, but some parts could benefit from renovation or modernization.

This wasn’t a major issue for us because we spent most of our time outdoors exploring the surrounding area. However, travelers looking for a modern luxury apartment may find the accommodation somewhat dated.

Everything was clean and practical, but the property lacks the fresh feel of some newer accommodations.

The Biggest Disappointment: The Sauna

Unfortunately, the biggest negative aspect of our stay was the sauna.

For many visitors to Finland, a private sauna is one of the main reasons for choosing a particular accommodation.

Sadly, the sauna did not function properly during our stay.

We managed to get the temperature only to around 40°C.

For us, that simply does not qualify as a real Finnish sauna experience.

A proper Finnish sauna should reach significantly higher temperatures, and we were very disappointed that it never became properly hot despite our efforts.

Since we use saunas regularly, this issue had a noticeable impact on our overall impression of the accommodation.

If the sauna had worked properly, our final rating would likely have been significantly higher.

Parking and Practical Information

The practical aspects of Holyone B are straightforward.

There is one parking space directly next to the building, making arrival and departure convenient.

The property itself is a semi-detached house, or “paritalo” in Finnish. Despite sharing a building with another apartment, we did not experience any notable disturbances during our stay.

Access to hiking trails is excellent, and all essential services are located within a reasonable distance.

Who Is This Accommodation Best For?

Holyone B is best suited for:

  • Families
  • Groups of friends
  • Multiple couples traveling together
  • Skiers during winter
  • Hikers during summer
  • Travelers who value location over luxury

Couples seeking a romantic getaway may find smaller cabins or more modern accommodations better suited to their needs.

For larger groups, however, the space and layout work very well.

Final Verdict

After spending an entire week at the property, this Holyone B Pyhätunturi review paints a mixed but generally positive picture.

The strongest aspects were the fantastic location, beautiful forest views, easy access to hiking trails, frequent reindeer encounters, spacious layout, and well-equipped kitchen. The nearby services, including K-Market and Restaurant Popolo, also contributed positively to the experience.

The biggest drawbacks were the outdated feel of parts of the property and, most importantly, the disappointing sauna, which never became properly hot during our stay.

Would we stay here again?

Probably not in this particular apartment. However, that does not mean it is a bad choice. We did mostly enjoy our time and the apartment provided us with what we needed. But it is not a luxury apartment!

For larger groups or families, Holyone B offers plenty of space in an excellent location. If you can find it at a good price, it is certainly worth considering. While it was not a perfect accommodation for us as a couple, it still served as a solid base for exploring one of Finland’s most beautiful outdoor destinations.

Final Rating

⭐⭐⭐☆☆

3/5 stars

The location, nature, hiking access, and unforgettable reindeer encounters were excellent. The sauna issues and somewhat dated interior prevented the accommodation from receiving a higher score. If the sauna is fixed and the property undergoes some modernization in the future, it could easily achieve a much stronger rating.
