My plans for 2025

A laptop keyboard, a cup of coffee, and an open planner with "2025" and checklist items "GOALS" and "PLAN" marked with checkmarks. The planner represents my plans for the year.

Introduction to my plans for 2025

Let me reflect on last year before I go diving in my plans for this year. How did it go in my own opinion? Did I achieve what I set out for? Or did I take a step back in meeting my goals? Perhaps I learned something new? How about you?

I do not have the a habit of making New Year’s resolutions. Something I stopped a long time ago. How about you, do you still make new years resolutions and can you achieve them? E.g. some people say they are going to get fit and start excercising. After a month or two the excitement is no longer there and excercises stops. Sound familiar?

I personaly did not see the benefit of making them, because of numerous reasons. So, just like last year I did not make any new years resolutions this time. But something I do want to bring forth are my plans for year 2025, which I hope will be tremendously better than last year. That being said, I would have to say that 2024 was not the best of years for me, although not the worst either. Focusing on my plans will be key to making 2025 a year of growth and accomplishment.
Reflections on 2024

At work, things were extremely busy and it took a toll on my energy levels. I hope that this year will not be as rough so I can focus on my plans. Also, I don’t feel like I was able to develop my skills and knowledge at work as I had hoped. Compensation felt like a letdown, considering the amount of work I put in.

Although I feel like I learned some things, I had hoped for more. It would have been nice if my employer had allowed me to attend some interesting seminars or work trips to grow my expertise. Luckily I managed to meet my net worth goal and hope that 2025 will improve it dramatically.

Personal growth came with the help of AI and my new hobby, which brought me excitement, letdowns, inspiration, stress and hope. Which hobby did I start in 2024, you ask? Well, my blog, of course! It has been a truly interesting journey so far (read about how it all started here). I’ve learned so much, like how to utilize AI in various aspects, how to start professional blogging, and everything that comes along with making it successful. While success hasn’t come overnight, I can see it growing, just like the grass on a freshly cut lawn.

I have had the possibility to travel to Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK (London). I like the fact that every time I travel I learn new things and it feels like an adventure. It’s great (as Borat would say). Unfortunately, I did not meet all of my personal goals for 2024, but let’s see if I can achieve them this year, which has already started off well.

Next, I would like to go through my plans, personal goals, professional goals, travel and adventure growth. At the end I will sum it all up in the conclusion. I’m thrilled about what 2025 has in store! With new adventures, foods to taste, challenging goals on saving money etc.

Personal Goals

Personal goals of my this year will be to keep up with my fitness routines. My plans for this year is to keep excercising almost daily and allowing myself to even go a week (or more) without excercising, if necessary. I have managed to find great fitness routines that keep me in great condition, without sacrifising more than a few hours of my time every week. Also, I want to makes sure I enjoy the little things of life a bit more, like endulging on delicious (and most likely unhealthy) food every now and then.

A goal I did not meet in 2024 was sleeping better. This is something I will strive to improve also in 2025. Whith blogging as my new hobby, I have a lot of plans for my blog and possible growth. I have to take it with baby steps, although I would love to  just get everything ready this very second. In reality it’s not possible.

For this year I hope to be able to provide a steady amount of high quality and interesting blog posts while reaching a larger audience. Also, I my plans include making an interesting introductory video about my blog and continue to actively make new posts on my site.

Professional Goals

When it comes to my career, it serves as a means to an end. It pays the bills. My goal for this year is to grow in my current field and expand my knowledge at work. How exactly? Well, I don’t want to make too detailed plans on how to achieve this, but perhaps through some courses, seminars, or work trips. Working on new projects and tasks is also a great way to improve my knowledge. Since the company I work for grew a lot at the end of 2024, I will be intrigued on what comes next. Note to myself….don’t get fired….haha!

Another thing that is very high in my plans is growing my net worth, and with some luck, it will increase dramatically (and no, not through cryptocurrencies). This can be achieved by steady income, investing, getting a second job, growing earnings from blogging or selling things.

While I strive to live my life, I also want to do some good in the process and continue the good work I have been doing with recycling almost everything. It’s a good thing that in Finland, recycling is quite easy. As part of my plans for 2025, I hope to make a significant impact both financially and environmentally.

Travel and Adventure

Ah, travel and adventures—one of the things I love about life. Have I already mentioned that I love to travel? Living in Finland feels almost like being on an island, as you often have to fly to most destinations, which isn’t very environmentally friendly. This is why I strive to travel abroad only 1-2 times per year. Also, I find that traveling without my spouse isn’t as fun as it is with her. Traveling together creates opportunities for adventures that I wouldn’t experience alone.

Now, when it comes to traveling, I don’t have specific destinations in mind yet, but most likely this year will bring more adventures in Europe. New destinations, ready or not, here we come! One thought is to travel to central Europe and utilize the train connections to visit several countries and cities. That was on our itinerary for the summer of 2020—and we all know what happened that year. Yes, COVID hit the world! So, maybe this year it could finally become a reality.

I’m also considering the possibility of a longer trip further away during the cold and dark winter months at the end of 2025. But let’s not get greedy now, shall we? I welcome all adventures this year, big or small.

Personal Growth

I feel like personal growth is the most difficult challenge to come up with any good goals. As part of my plans, I would love to learn new skills, but I feel that due to my day job and blogging, there is little to no time left to learn new skills, except through the development of my blog and building it into something bigger.

For the blog, I have no actual metrics set up as goals. For me, it will be enough if the blog continues to grow, and I manage to learn a few tricks on the side. Integrating personal growth into my plans will hopefully bring new opportunities and skills throughout the year.

Since sleeping well has been a problem for me for quite some time now. I think this is one area that needs to be improved. It would be nice if there was a light switch or just one pill that could make it all better, but no I have to do it the hard way. One thing at a time. Not tressing too muych about work, or my blog or the fact that I did not reach a certain financial goal or anything similar. Less stress = better sleep?
The image shows silhouettes of people ascending a staircase, each step labeled with words: determination, execution, ambition, and vision. At the top, "success" is prominently displayed. This represents my plans for achieving success.

Conclusion on my plans for 2025

As a conclusion you might say that there is lots of aspiration to achieve things. Some will most likely come true, but will I achieve all goals I have set to achieve this year. As a realist, I doubt it, but will do my best to achieve them and my plans are to live a meaningful life this year. While I have a lot to contribute to reaching the goals, I do feel like it will require some luck along with it. So I will cross my fingers and toes in hope of reaching my goals.

As I came forth with my plans for this year, not all have specific metrics on whether I achieve them or not. I will alllow myself to have goals that are based on how I feel. Otherwise I feel like it is only a matter of performing and looking at numbers, which I don’t feel like is living. It will be interesting to reflect these thoughts and goals once the year is coming to an end.

What about you? I hope you got some ideas from my plans when you think about your own plans. What are your goals for this year? Let me know in the comments!
