Hotel Saint London: An In-Depth Review 2024

Exterior of Hotel Saint London illuminated at night with a well-lit lobby and visible gym area.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Saint London with my better half, and had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing vacation. Now I want to share my insights and tips to you in this article. Not to confuse Hotel Saint with other hotels in the world I refer to it as Hotel Saint London throughout this post.

Please note, this post is not sponsored, and all opinions are my own. You can rest assured that all opinions are 100% honest. In my review I will provide you with useful links and tips, so don’t forget to read it all. Also, check out my 56 tips on how to travel cheap.

Introduction to Hotel Saint London

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Saint London during our one week trip to London. Located in the heart of the city, this hotel promised a blend of luxury and convenience, and it certainly delivered. Hotel Saint London opened in May 2023, so it is a fairly new hotel, but the building itself is dated back to 2017. It was previously the site of the Dorcell City Hotel.

Hotel Saint London looks and feels like an elegant new hotel. Something that a traveler like myself, who enjoys luxury to an affordable price, I immediately new, just by looking at the pictures and reviews that this was the right hotel for our trip to London.

I booked the hotel a few weeks before our trip, so it wasn’t the cheapest price you could get it for, but deffinitely affordable. For a 6 night stay it cost us 1290€ (~1074 pounds), which is about 215€ (179 pounds) per night. I think the cheapest you can get is probably about 25€ (~20 pounds) lower than what we paid for, if you are booking the room well in advance.

Personal Experience

The hotel sent us a couple times before our arrival an email where you could easily upgrade your room, if you wanted for an additional cost. We did not take that offer, but it was made easy for anyone who wishes to do so. We were perfectly happy with the superior room that we booked. The superior rooms are located on several floors, from 2 to 9.

I sent the hotel a request before our arrival asking to get a room on the higher floors, if possible. Every time I messaged the hotel I received a quick response from the front desk with answers to my questions, which is a sign of good customer service. Trust me I know, I have been doing customer service in the past for over 10 years.

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. I immediately felt like at home and the front desk was full of staff eagerly waiting to help. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the staff being both friendly and professional.

We were offered a complimentary coupon to the hotels restaurant (The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen), which was a nice touch after an early flight and long journey. So we took our bags to our room and went to try the restaurant to cool down my better half’s hanger.

Rooms & Quality

Hotel Saint London has superior rooms, deluxe rooms, family suites, accessible rooms and suites. Something for every traveler. My initial thought when booking the superior room was that it should be quite spacious and have a luxury feel to it. Well, my initial thoughts did not disappoint.

The room at Hotel Saint London was spacious (22 square meters = 237 square feet?), clean, and well-appointed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. I appreciated the modern amenities, including a large flat-screen TV, a mini fridge, and a coffee maker.

The bathroom was equally impressive, with a rain shower and high-quality toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, shower gel, body lotion). But I can not point it out how clean the room was! I have spent vacations in plenty of other 3-5 star hotels and this was one of the cleanest rooms I have stayed in. A big thank you to the Hotel Saint London cleaning crew!

The amenities in the superior room (all complimentary):
  • 2 bottles of water (glass bottles).
  • selection of tees (3-4 different choices).
  • Nespresso coffee machine (and 4 capsules. One decaff and three with different intensity).
  • 2pc Cartwright & Butler cookies (one piece includes 2 cookies).

Other features the room had was:

  • air-conditioning (worked fine during our visit)
  • free Wi-Fi (fast Wi-Fi!)
  • empty mini fridge.
  • electric kettle.
  • a working desk (a good desk)
  • alarm clock with a docking station (for you iPod)
  • 42-inch LCD TV (lots of channels, but we did not use the TV more than 30 minutes)
  • in-room safe (regular size, good quality)
  • hair dryer (good quality)
  • iron and ironing board
  • 2 Bathrobes & 2 slippers
  • adapters upon request at the front desk (ask and you shall receive)

Hotel Saint London offers room service from 12pm to 10.30am and in room breakfast. You can also buy a welcome package to enhance your stay at the hotel. Hotel Saint London Features

The hotel boasts several impressive features:
  • Dining: The on-site restaurant (The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen) offeres a diverse menu with delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant looks incredibly elegant and refined. We visited the restaurant once, but it was not for us or the food we ordered were bad choices. The service was friendly, but there is room for improvement.
  • Fitness Center: The fitness center is well-equipped with modern machines and free weights, perfect for maintaining a workout routine. Unfortunately we did not find the time to try the fitness center.
  • Skybar: Jin Bo Law Skybar is not owned by the hotel and to get in you have to que outside. During our stay there was no que or a very short que.

Local Attractions (near Hotel Saint London)

The hotel’s location was ideal for exploring the city. It was within walking distance of several major attractions, including Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Horizon 22 (viewing platform) and Sky Garden (viewing platform). It was very easy to navigate to these attractions with or without the help of Google Maps. It is also very convenient to get around London with the Aldgate underground station literally next to the hotel. The area felt safe and calm during our entire visit.

Tips and Recommendations

How to get to the hotel (from Gatwick airport)

Take the Thameslink (train) from the airport and get off at London Bridge Station. There you have a few choices, either walk 20 minutes (which we did, via Tower Bridge) or take the bus or walk over the London Bridge and take the underground (one stop). I suggest just walking and enjoying the views of London Bridge or Tower Bridge (depending on which route you take).

How to get to the hotel (from Heathrow airport)

Take the underground, Elizabeth line, and get off at Liverpool street and walk about 10-15 minutes to get to the hotel or take a taxi or maybe even rent a car. But I recommend taking the underground since it is very easy to use.

Best Time to Visit

I found that visiting during the off-peak season allowed for a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds. Our visit was during Halloween week and I think it was a good time to visit London and a great time to stay at the hotel. The hotel’s front desk was beautifully decorated with a Halloween theme for the holiday.

Room recommendations

I recommend requesting a room with a view of the city for a stunning sight, e.g. 806 (or any other 06 ending room). That way you have a view to the city and the small church next to the hotel. Or even better book a corner room.

Dining

I am unable to recommend the hotels own restaurant, The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen, since we did not enjoy the food and the service at the restaurant was not as professional as I had expected, although the service was friendly. I would instead try Emilias Crafted Pasta (8 minutes walk or itsu (across the hotel).

Sleek bathroom with contemporary fixtures and a spacious shower area.
Close-up of premium toiletries on a bathroom countertop.
Spacious shower area with a modern rainfall showerhead.
Coffee and tea station with a variety of options.
Mini-fridge with a blue interior light, ready to store any drinks chilled.
Digital control panel for adjusting room settings and temperature.

Conclusion of Hotel Saint London

Overall, our stay at Hotel Saint London was fantastic. I would give the hotel 4,5/5 stars. The combination of excellent service, clean rooms, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London.

Another detailed review about Hotel Saint London can be found on the Express website (online version of Daily Express, a British tabloid newspaper). I will post more about our trip to London in the upcomming weeks, so I hope to see you here again. Some exciting visits to the main attractions, White Cliffs of Dover and best of all food!
